David Carr Born in Bakersfield in July 1979, David Carr was considered the model quarterback with an NFL-caliber arm and seasoned instincts. Carr is one of the most successful athletes ever to play for Fresno State University. As the Bulldogs' starting quarterback during the 2000 and 2001 seasons, he proved himself a natural athlete with his talent make big plays via the pass or run. In 2001, Carr became only the sixth quarterback in NCAA history to throw for 4,000 yards and 40 touchdowns in a single season. As a senior, Carr collected many honors and awards, most notably the Johnny Unitas Award as the nation’s top collegiate quarterback. Following an outstanding college career, Carr was the first pick in franchise history by the expansion Houston Texans, making him the top selection of the 2002 NFL Draft. After five-years with Texans, Carr signed a free agent contract to join the Carolina Panthers prior to the 2007 NFL season. |
